From Zealandia, a simulation of the world without mammals and named after the unrecognized geological continent in the Pacific Ocean, which also includes New Zealand, via the Lithuanian borderland to Belarus, into the canyons of Sao Paulo and on to Mexico City and Oaxaca, the Mexican city where music lives on the streets, via Moscow and Odessa to the European continent and back to the southeast to Yogyakarta on the Indian Ocean. The photographic and video snapshots that accompany this acoustic diary are just as trashy as the sound recordings.
In 2025, this acoustic diary is complemented by the journey to the south of Yogyakarta City and Goa Tabuhan in Pacitan.
Sound excerpt:
Gema (echoes from) Tabuhan
Yogyakarta city and Goa Tabuhan in the village Wereng in Pacitan , Indonesia 2024
The echoes of Goa Tabuhan cave from my first visit in 2019 became reality. At Art Music Today’s studio in Yogyakarta city I prepared for my performance in the cave, I stayd in a homestay in open traditional construction in front of a rice field, accompanied by frog and prayer concerts.
And then Goa Tabuhan, where the light of the day meets the darkness of the cave. In the morning, bird concerts in the museum's guest house and, on the day of my evening performance in the cave, a roaring party accompanied by the sound of short but heavy downpours. It is the rainy season.
